We have little opportunity to be quiet and still in our fast paced lives. This piece invites you to do just that.

Welcome a little tranquillity with the subtle layers of colours and a very fine layer of tissue paper that creates a hint of texture. Just enough to help you keep your attention whilst you dive into the still blues of the painting.

These paintings are built up with layers of soft pastel,oil pastel, archival brush pens, acrylic inks, graphite, charcoal pencils and acrylic paint. Some also include tissue paper and tracing paper. Created on wooden board that has been prepared by me to paint on. The paintings are completed by a layer of UV varnish and have a clean and contemporary finish and are ready to hang.

Deep pensive blue oil paint carved out on a turquoise blue background slowly draws you into a calm state.

If you are a true lover of blue this painting plays with the contrasts of summer blue seas and blue inky nights.

Oil paint is beautifully glossy when it’s wet and I expected this to painting to lose this quality when it dried. However it retained a gorgeous sheen. For a dark painting to welcome so much light and then return back to you, I feel is a gift.

Whilst painting this piece I noticed how the texture of the 0’s began to reveal themselves like the ebbs and flows of lulling sea.This inspired the name of the painting.

With the oil painting wrapping around the extra deep sides of 8 cm the artwork takes on sculptural quality that can be viewed from so many different angles that I just love. This is the only series of artwork where I paint around the edges and it’ll make this a real statement piece in your home or office.

These paintings are created over a long period of time with every 0 carved out mindfully. I focus only on that 0 and work very close to the canvas giving all my attention to the creation of one 0 at a time. The painting evolves one 0 at a time using this process. The focus is on the present moment (the present 0) not the 0 that has just been created or the 0 to be created.

This painting is a feast for your soul. It takes you on a journey from the depths of the deep blue to the lushness of a grassy green.

Whilst I was creating this piece I was reflecting on the richness of our life experiences and the unpredictability of what can happen . This piece is about how we weave in and out of different feelings, sensations and emotions, just like water weaves through whatever is in its path. If you want to feel a release from feeling like you need to control everything , this painting reminds us of what it is to let go of control and surrender.

The painting is built up with thin lines of oil paints that are blended as they are are applied on with a thin metal scraper.

Being by the sea especially makes me feel like anything is possible. I leave feeling lighter, calmer and more connected. I take this feeling to my studio and aim to feed it into my artwork. I always feel humbled when being by any form of water feeling part of it and in awe of it at the same time.

Have you ever wanted to dive into moonlit water on a warm summers night but not quite felt brave enough to? I’m with you! I understand. I would so love to do that. Instead I created this painting until I pluck up the courage to take that midnight moonlit dip!
